Ugh.  I went to go see a chiropractor/nutritionist/holistic medicine practitioner early last week.  Some random chick told my father-in-law about her, helped get her pregnant.  Apparently, if she thinks she can help you and takes you as a patient, she has a 100% success rate with infertility.  So Jesse and I went.  I'm now on this detoxification diet for 28 days.  For the whole 28 days, I can't have any caffeine, chocolate, alcohol, dairy products, beef, pork, or wheat.  Or corn or oranges, for some reason.  This week I can only eat fruits, veggies, and rice.  Starting next Monday I can start eating nuts and dairy substitutes (like rice milk), plus I can have potatoes again.  Then a week from Saturday I can have chicken and fish.  During the day it isn't so bad, but at night I am really craving foods.  Mostly cheese.  I'm at least a little hungry almost all of the time.  This diet better freakin' work!

random update

Had a few people ask on Facebook what's new with me and Jesse, so I thought I'd post some random crap that's going on here.

1.  Having a party on July 11.  Y'all should come.
2.  Basement has come to a halt for now.  We discovered a crack in the basement wall.  Fortunately, the crack is on the only part of the wall we haven't drywalled yet so we caught it in time!  Need to bust it out and repair it, plus do some landscaping stuff on the outside and hope that works.
3.  went to Boston/DC a month ago and had a blast.  It was awesome seeing Dave and Sue again, especially in their home turf.  Did miles and miles and miles and miles of walking.  Weather was beautiful.
4.  We finally got rid of the POS garage-sale leftover table and chairs that were literally falling apart.  We now have a nice solid oak handmade Amish table and chairs, and it's fabulous.  I feel much more grownup.
5.  We've now been trying to get pregnant for almost 2 years with no luck.  We're now trying more scientific (and more costly) methods.  Wish us luck.  We'll be looking at adoption pretty soon though....
6.  Isaac and Angie are engaged, and Jesse and I are both standing up in the wedding.  Jesse is the best man and I am a bridesmaid.  They're getting married next June.  It's excellent.  I really really like Angie, and they're pretty much perfect for each other.
7.  Zeus is now 76 freakin' pounds at age 9.5 months.  He's ginormous.  He has a great temperament and loves everyone.  Biggest problem is that is loves everyone too much sometimes and likes to jump on people when they come over.  But if that's our biggest problem, I consider that a win.

That's about it.  Not a whole lot, but sometimes that's just fine by me

Boston! DC!

Leaving tomorrow for Boston and DC.  I'm super-excited to see Sue and Dave.  I'm trying to squeeze in all my packing today before I work at 3.  I've worked all PM shifts this week, it's really sucked trying to coordinate and discuss the trip with Jesse over the phone since we've barely seen each other face to face.  But hey, we'll get plenty of face time in the next week.  I did request to be on-call this evening if possible, but I highly doubt that will happen.

Plans for Boston:  New England Aquarium, Red Sox game, Sam Adams brewery, good seafood, and hanging with Sue and Dave.

Plans for DC: Group White House with the Realtors Association, Ragtime at the Kennedy Center, Smithsonian, National Zoo, and some of the monuments.  Hanging some with the in-laws.

Scott is dog- and house-sitting for us while we're gone.  Hopefully the house (and Zeus) will be in one piece when we get back.  :)

Side note: Zeus is already up to 68 lb at age 8 months.  Holy crap, is he going to be big....

Stupid weather

Ugh.  I am soooooo sick of cold(ish) and snow and wind and crappy weather.  I want to fire up the grill, or at least cheer on Jesse while he does.  Take Zeus to the dog park.   Go canoeing or something.  Buy new cute summer dresses.

On the bright side, I get to buy cute new summer dresses because I've lost 15 lb.  :)  I'm awesome.  Too bad I've got like 40 lb to go.  Ah well.  Hopefully by the time dress time rolls around I will have lost a few more.

It's about time

I have officially lost some weight.  Go me!  Only 7 or 8 lb but hey, it's a good start.  I've had a few coworkers ask me if I've lost weight, and it makes me feel really good that people notice even when I'm wearing scrubs.

On another topic, the lease is about up for the tenants renting from us.  One of them told Jesse a few weeks ago that they were moving out the end of the month.  Fine, no problem. We found another tenant who really wants to move in.  She has a dog, but we said that would be fine if she puts down another half month's rent as a security deposit.  Just waiting to hear from her current landlord to see if the dog was all right.  Well, today another one of our current tenants called Jesse to tell them that they wanted to renew.  The prospective tenant was going to pay $50 more a month that our current tenants pay.  Jesse told them if they were willing ot pay the higher rate that they could renew. So we'll see what they decide.

Zeus training is progressing.  He met Jack (Isaac and Angie's dog) last night and it went better than we feared.  He's listening more often, and is starting to go to the door when he has to pee.  I think that once he is fully trained he's going to be a really good dog.

Jesse got me a puppy for my birthday!!!!!!!  He is a 5 month old named Zeus.  He's a mix of black lab and something else, and already weighs 40 lb.  I think he's going to be huge when he's done growing.

He's so cute!

Resolutions update

1.  Join a gym and go 3 times per week.  This I have done consistently every week.  Go me!  I haven't lost any weight yet; however, I have put on some muscle without actually gaining weight.  This seems like a good thing.
2.  Along with #1, eat more veggies and take my lunch to work more often.  I've done this more often, but not often enough.  Needs work.
3.  Keep my bedroom picked up (at least MY side of it).  Doing pretty well here. My side of the room has been pretty clean.  I don't bug Jesse about his side,he's not the one who made the resolution.  right now his is dirty partially because of the piles of sorted dirty laundry.... must take care of that tomorrow
4.  Start building a nest egg by putting money into savings every month.  This one hasn't happened.  Trying to get credit cards paid off first.  In a month or two I should be able to do this.
5.  Go to Boston to visit Sue.  Planning on going in May.... though we haven't book flights yet

Asian persuasion

My friend Dave is visiting from Boston.  Last night we went out for dinner, and on our drive back home he said something about me not being of the Asian persuasion.  I thought it sounded like the name of an adult video, so Jesse googled it once we got home.  Yes, indeed it is a porn.  But what was really amusing were the names of the porns they thought we would also like...

Whoriental Academy
Shanghai Poon
Seoul Sisters
Filipinas full of Penis
Black Thai Affair

Porn names amuse me to no end

New Year's resolutions

I am not normally one for making resolutions, but we'll see how these go...

1.  Quit bitching about how fat I am and do something about it.  Joining a gym TOMORROW.  Go at least 3x/week
2.  Along with #1, eat more veggies and take my lunch to work more often
3.  Keep my bedroom picked up (at least MY side of it)
4.  Start building a nest egg by putting money into savings every month
5.  Go to Boston to visit Sue.  This is long overdue (rhyme not intentional)

I'd add more, but I think there's already enough potential for failure.  :/  If I remember I will evaluate my progress in a month or two.

Jesse is awesome

I got a new camera from Jesse for Christmas!  It's much smaller and faster and sexier than my old one.    He also got me some free trade jewelry, and some animated Terry Pratchett movies.  Jesse is the awesomest.  :)

Now I have to play with my camera so I can take some decent pictures tonight for the Christmas party

Ugh.  I am not looking forward to the drive home tonight.  I have to work until 11:30.  The snowstorm is supposed to start around 7 or 8, from what I hear.  I hope it either starts later than that, or that it's clear enough for me to drive home

Jesse didn't want to brave the weather this morning, so we have a nice snow day.  Very low key and relaxing.  Ahhhh

My mom wanted to go Christmas shopping yesterday.  With me.  Were I left to my own devices I would have avoided any retail areas, but I'm a good daughter. :)  I did wake up at 5:15 to do some shopping on Amazon, but they only had a few deals on the things I was looking for.  Met my mom at 7, wondering how I got myself roped into this.  Traffic and parking was insane.  However, you could tell the effect the economy was having on people because I saw a lot of people leaving stores empty-handed.  The checkout lines weren't bad at all, so all in all the shopping experience wasn't nearly as bad as I was expecting.  So between in-store shopping and online I am now about 90% done with our Christmas shopping.  Hopefully I will be able to do the rest online and avoid the retail areas until after the holidays.

Gonna put up the Christmas decorations this weekend.  I <3 Christmas.  I'm a dork.

I miss Jesse.  :(  It's been hard to sleep the past few nights without him here.  3 nights down, 2 to go...

Saturday I went Christmas shopping with Angie, and got a decent amount of presents checked off.  We went to Hubbard Ave Diner for dinner, then went to see Twilight.  I had low expectations for the movie, so it was slightly better than I expected.  :)  The big downside to seeing it was the hordes of squealing teenage girls  there.

So now I've borrowed the books from Angie.  *sigh*  What is it about vampires that are so sexy?   The first book isn't terribly well-written but I couldn't put it down.  It's like an emo bodice-ripper romance, but without the sex.  Too bad they're young adult novels.  :)  The worst word used was "dammit."  What teenager doesn't swear?

I'm rather embarassed that I want to see Twilight.  *sigh*  I'm sure it will suck.  But I like vampires, and the lead guy (Robert 'Cedric' something or other) is teh sexy.

Speaking of vampires, the season finale of True Blood airs Sunday.  Jesse will be in New Orleans and I can't watch it without him so I have to wait until Wednesday.  Grrrrr

And it's awesome.  It takes awhile for the web, etc, to work, so I'm stil waiting on that.  Can't wait to play with all the toys on it.  Touch screen, mobile web, navigation, Bluetooth, etc.  :)

The interwebs went down over an hour today, despite my attempts to resuscitate it.  Then I decided to get off my lazy ass for once and try the whole exercise thing again.  I bought a workout DVD yesterday.  Put it in the DVD player in our office/detritus room.  No sound because I must have hooked it up incorrectly awhile ago.  Grrrr.  Put it in the Blu-Ray player in the living room.  Works fine for about 5 minutes, then starts stuttering, randomly pausing, and/or fast forwarding.  Pushing play button does nothing, nor does fast forward or rewind.  Pushed stop, which works.  Restarting it at the same point works for another 3 minutes, then it does the same shit all over again.  More grrrr.  I can't win.

Ahh well.  At least I got in about 10 minutes, which is more than I can say for the last 2 months.  I suck.

Yes we can!

I'm still kind of in shock.  I expected an Obama win, but wasn't expecting the Obama landslide.  In 2004 I cried after the election results.  This year , not to sound cliched, but I actually feel hopeful.   Bipartisanship?  We can hope.  I also hope that Nancy Pelosi gets replaced as Speaker of the House, in the spirit of bipartisanship.  She's scary.

But boo to California and taking away marriage rights.

I have a new car, and it's awesome.  :)  Got a 2007 Nissan Altima.  It's black, which was not my first choice.  It looks sexy as hell while it's still clean, but it's going to get dirty fast.
